Bob and Suzanne (Beard) Hodges of Lebanon will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary at an open house Jan. 31 at the Lebanon Elks Lodge, 215 Lafayette Ave., Lebanon, between 2 and 5 p.m. Their sons and family are hosting the event. They hope to see all of their family and friends and ask that guests omit gifts.
The couple was married Jan. 30, 1959, at the old Carmel Friends Church in Carmel. The Rev. Keith Kirk performed the ceremony. They met on a blind date through their mutual friend, Dave Cox.
The couple has four sons, Gary (Jen), Stephen (Joyce), Tony (Yolande) and Ritchie (Ceci). They have 14 grandchildren, Abby, Maggie, Jeremy (Elise), Kyle, Andrew, Jordan, Kaia, Madison, Chad (Tiffany), Michael, Whitney, Justin, Mitchell and Colton. They also have six great-grandsons, Jaxon, Wyatt, Chase, Cooper, Izaak and Nicholas.
Bob retired from Rock Island/Marathon Oil refinery after 41 years. He now enjoys sports, music and movies. Suzanne worked for the Lebanon Community School Corporation for 10 years. She then worked for Dr. Paul Honan in Lebanon for 17 years, before she retired. She is active in Kappa Delta Phi Sorority and enjoys quilting.
Bob and Suzanne have enjoyed going to all their sons’ and grandchildren’s events through the years, and they still enjoy going to the Lebanon sporting events. They also enjoy traveling in their RV and spending time with their two boxers, Lightning and Gator.
