— Bennie and Bessie Smith will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Lebanon Rock Church Fellowship Hall, 504 E. Elm St., Lebanon.
The couple have three daughters, Lisa Smith-Adams of Walkerton and Michelle Smith and Pamela Smith, both of Lebanon. They have four grandsons and four great-grandchildren.
Bennie and Bessie were married on Aug. 19, 1960, in Rushville, Ill. The couple has lived in rural Lebanon since 1972.
Prior to retirement, Bennie worked 22 years for Carmel Concrete. Also, for a period of 17 years, he painted and repaired numerous race cars and antique vehicles that are housed in the Indianapolis 500 Museum.
Bessie has devoted time volunteering for various church activities. She has served as event director of the Community Thanksgiving Dinner from 1988 to 1990. She also has served as missions director and has been on various foreign mission trips. She enjoys flowers and gardening.
Bennie and Bessie both have been members of Lebanon Rock Church for 29 years.
The event will be hosted by the couple’s children, Michelle and Pamela, who request that you please join Bennie and Bessie during this momentous occasion.
