— John William and Marjorie Ellen (Mitchell) Rhoades, of Thorntown, were united in marriage 50 years ago, on Aug. 14, 1960, in the Trinity United Church of Christ, Mulberry. The Rev. John Westermeyer performed the ceremony.
They are the proud parents of four children, John Glenn Rhoades of Greenville, S.C., Judith Elaine (Steve) Kinne of Vevay, James William Rhoades of Thorntown and Jennifer Louise (Luno) Shifflett of Frankfort. They have six grandchildren, Tara Lindsay Rhoades, Adeli, Audrey and Leon Kinne and Layla and Frankie Shifflett.
John was an accounting specialist for Lau Industries, Lebanon, retiring after 30 years of service. Margie has devoted her life to her family, and care of the elderly.
The couple began their married life in rural Thorntown, and have remained at the same address.
The children are planning a very special celebration in their parents’ honor at a later date.
