Lebanon —
When the final bells rings for summer break next week, many members of the Lebanon High School football team will have different things on their minds than their classmates’ thoughts of sleeping in and summer fun.
Twenty LHS football players will join 17 of their family members, coaches and teachers and 10 community members next month to travel to earthquake-ravaged Haiti to aid in the relief effort.
“This is going to be a chance of a lifetime,” said Kent Wright, LHS football coach. “The majority of these kids have never traveled. Some have never flown. Now to be able to go out of the country and help somebody in need — it’s going to be life-changing.”
The trip is through Lebanon Christian Church, that partners with Damou Christian Mission in Jacmel, Haiti. More people than expected signed up, and Damou can only house 25 people at once, so LCC is taking two groups down, the first June 10 to 17, and the second June 17 to 25.
