The Boone County Fourth of July parade followed its own Hollywood theme and continued despite bad weather. Although rain fell for the parade's entirety, it didn't deter many as the parade route was still lined with spectators.“The turnout was great,” said Fourth of July parade chairman Matt Reynolds. “Everyone just said ‘we’re already wet, we might as well enjoy it.’” Nearly all 147 entries participated in the two-hour parade, he said.

Parade winners were:

• Anna and Barrett Schrock plug their ears when the fire trucks sound their sirens at the start of the parade.

• Freedom Church was the grand prize float winner.

• Tri Kappa, first place float in non-commercial category.

• First Community Church, first place for best theme, the upcoming VBS Crocodile Dock.

• 4-H Clovers, first place for a 4-H float.

• Marion Achievers Club, second place for a 4-H float.

• Family Video, second place in commercial category.

• Lighthouse Baptist Church, second place in non-commercial category.

• Dead End Dueling, first place in commercial category.
