Lebanon — The new North Pavilion at Witham Hospital is now open, another step in the hospital’s recent growth and development.
With the first medical office building built in 2000, the new hospital in 2003, new office buildings in Thorntown and Jamestown and soon a new ER facility at Anson, the 95,000-square-foot North Pavilion is just another way to better serve Witham’s patients, officials there say.
“We now have an opportunity to offer more choices for our patients, and that’s what it’s all about,” said Jack Jones, president of the hospital board. “And we can actually afford it. It’s just a good situation all the way around.”
Upon entering the front doors to the new pavilion, one comes to a unique area just to the right — Pavilion Pointe. It offers Pavilion Perk, a coffee and bakery area that serves Seattle’s Best Coffee products; Knowledge Pointe, an area of computers equipped for medical research; and Pavilion Boutique, a retail area that will cater to the needs of women with cancer — carrying items like mastectomy bras, hats and head covers, cancer awareness clothing and skin care items. The Pavilion Boutique will also offer everyday items including vitamins, journals and cards. Pavilion Pointe also includes a children’s play area and a fireplace and seating area.
“We want this to be a destination area in the hospital,” said Tammy Rabe, director of marketing and public relations. “And we want people to feel relaxed here. It’s a nice place to sit and wait.”
