LHS tax calculator gets overhaul

Lebanon — The Department of Local Government Finance is helping voters in central Indiana figure out the impact of local school corporation referenda on the ballot this fall with the release of a new online tax calculator.

The calculator, at http://www.in.gov/dlgf/8789.htm, has been creating some buzz in the community — and some problems.

The original calculations the DLGF calculator made in relation to Lebanon’s referendum were not correct, said Bob Ross, director of resource and operation at Lebanon Community School Corporation. He collected the information and turned it into the corporation’s financial consultants, H.J. Umbaugh & Associates.

Colette Irwin-Knott, of Umbaugh, contacted the DLGF and worked the problem out.
