County, city roads generally clear

— Road conditions after Wednesday’s blizzard had improved enough Thursday morning for the Boone County Emergency Management Agency to drop the travel status alert to the “advisory” level.

Issued through the Boone County Sheriff Office’s Nixle e-mail and text service, the declaration is the least severe of the four alert levels used statewide to caution residents of highway and weather conditions.

An advisory means travel may be restricted in some areas because of a potentially hazardous situation.

Lebanon’s roads, and those maintained by the Boone County Highway Department, were in good shape, thanks in part to advance warning of the blizzard and the cooperation of residents.

“Everything is cleared off and in pretty good shape,” Boone County Highway Superintendent Rick Carney said Thursday.
