WPD chief addresses Fayette patrol complaint

Boone County — A Fayette resident who wanted the Boone County Commissioners on Monday to hear his complaints that Whitestown Police patrol outside their jurisdiction didn’t show — but WPD Chief Dennis Anderson did.

Carl York said in a letter to the commissioners that since Whitestown annexed sections of Perry Township, “we have had issues with speed traps being set up outside the limits of Whitestown.” Locations include the Perry Township Volunteer Fire Department’s parking lot; private driveways along Indiana 267, old Ind. 334 and CR 650 E, along Indianapolis Road; “as well as north and south on Interstate 65,” York said.

“I feel the only motivation for Whitestown to patrol in these areas is to generate revenue for their town and it is an unfair practice on their part to be allowed to continue in this manner,” York said. “Had we chose to have their support we would not have fought so diligently to prevent their annexation of our area.”
