Gateway bridge work on hiatus until spring

Lebanon — Basic construction on the Indiana 39 gateway bridge over Interstate 65 has been finished for the winter, and is on schedule to be completely done by this spring.

Lebanon Mayor Huck Lewis said the bridge itself is done. Workers will break during the winter, and the architectural design elements will be added in the spring, to be finished by June.

“The goal was to get it all the way open before the weather got bad,” he said.

The design elements will include back-lit translucent panels spanning the length of the bridge, and six towers with lighted tops.
