Lebanon — Stephen Gentry and Austin Chandler took top honors at the 2010 Boone County 4-H swine show Tuesday at the Boone County 4-H Fairgrounds.
Gentry showed the Grand Champion Gilt, and Chandler had the Grand Champion Barrow. Jenna Mitchell presented the Reserve Grand Champion Gilt and Ashley Smith showed the Reserve Grand Champion Barrow.
Gentry also won the Advanced Showmanship Contest, and went on to compete head-to-head in the Master Showmanship class against Jason Hieston.
The judge turned the tables on the two competitors halfway through the competition, asking younger showmen to come out and show the swine while Gentry and Hieston got on the microphone to critique the younger 4-H’ers’ performances.
In the end, the judge selected Gentry as the Swine Master Showman. Gentry will go on to compete for the Boone County Supreme Showman title today against the Master Showman in seven other livestock categories.
