Lebanon — After hours of working with a menagerie of animals in front of a series of judges, it took Austin Chandler an extra moment to realize that it was his name announced as the 2010 Boone County 4-H Supreme Showmanship Contest winner.
The stands were filled Wednesday evening, as the Boone County 4-H Fair’s eight top showmen met in the Boone County 4-H Supreme Showmanship Contest.
Contestants were Chandler, a 10-year member of 4-H; Jason Hieston, a 10-year member; Hayley Miller, a 9-year member; Sarah Garst, an 8-year member; Caleb Nicley, an 8-year member; Lauren Daiss, an 8-year member, Emily Carithers, a 7-year member, and Anita Burns, a 5-year member.
Each of the eight earned a spot in the competition by placing in the top of the showmanship contests this week during the beef, dairy cattle, swine, horse, meat goat, dairy goat, sheep and llama shows.
