During her freshman and sophomore years in high school, current Lebanon High School senior Samantha Fairfield wasn’t sure if she would graduate.
But that changed, with the help of LHS graduation coach Dawn Wright.
“With her help,” Fairfield said, signaling to Wright during a presentation Thursday at the Lebanon Kiwanis Club meeting, “I’m going to graduate even if it takes me a little longer, which it probably won’t.”
Fairfield, Wright and LHS Principal Kevin O’Rourke were at the Kiwanis meeting to talk about the graduation coach program and its funding needs for next year. The program, solely supported by donations and grants, is nearly 30 percent funded for next year, Wright said.
The program stemmed from a county-wide panel on high school drop-out prevention, O’Rourke said. The school received a grant to fund the program for this year, but next year it might be on the line.
