Boone County’s status as the fourth-healthiest county in Indiana will draw national attention.
A video crew from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation visited the Boone County Health Department Tuesday for one in a six-part public health video series. Also visiting were representatives of Purdue University and the Indiana State Department of Health.
In a first-ever study, the RWJ Foundation and the University of Wisconsin’s Population Health Institute assessed a range of social, economic and health care statistics to rate the over-all health of each of the nation’s 3,100 counties.
Cindy Murphy, RN, head of the Boone County Health Department’s nursing and vital records division, said the foundation is doing a profile of Dr. Judy Monroe, former commissioner of the ISDH. Dr. Monroe recommended the RWJ visit Boone County because of the Boone County Healthy Coalition. The coalition developed from a public health summit held about two years ago.
