K’garten roundup begins next week

By Sarah Lang/The Lebanon Reporter

Lebanon — The kindergarten roundup is approaching for children who will enter kindergarten this fall in Lebanon schools.

Children are eligible to enter kindergarten if their fifth birthday falls on or before Aug. 1, 2010.

The process will include screening for each student to assess their general development, along with their speech and hearing.

Parents must call the elementary school in their attendance area to schedule an appointment. They must bring their child entering kindergarten, along with his or her birth certificate, immunization record, child custody documents if applicable, and proof of residency, like a utility bill or rental lease agreement that shows the student’s legal address.

If unsure of which school is the student’s home attendance school, contact the transportation department at (765) 482-1499.

Central Elementary’s kindergarten roundup is March 18 and 19. Call (765) 482-2000 to schedule an appointment.

Harney Elementary’s is April 15 and 16. Call (765) 482-5940 for an appointment.

The roundup for Hattie B. Stokes Elementary is April 20 and 21, and for an appointment, call (765) 482-5950.

And for Perry Worth Elementary, call (317) 769-3286. Their roundup is April 22 and 23.

Appointments during each school’s specified days are available from 8 to 11:30 a.m. and 1 to 3:15 p.m.
