Lebanon — Traffic along a four-mile stretch of north-bound Interstate 65 south of Lebanon was shifted one lane to the left Thursday night as crews continued an ahead-of-schedule project to add two lanes to the highway.
The shift placed traffic on new pavement constructed in the existing median between Indiana 267 (the 133.3 mile marker) to County Road 100 East (mile marker 137.2), Harvey said.
Tim Harvey, project superintendent for Milestone Contractors, LP, which is building the new lanes, asked that drivers “use extreme caution” in the construction area.
Construction workers and heavy equipment will be in the emergency lanes, Harvey said.
“Emergency responders are strongly encouraged to familiarize themselves with this new configuration of the travel lanes and emergency lanes,” Harvey said.
Thursday, Harvey said the $32 million project was ahead of schedule.
Officials estimate that about 130,000 vehicles daily travel the interstate in the construction area.
