Lebanon — Tuesday marked the largest poultry show ever at the Boone County 4-H Fair, said project leader Doug Akers. More than 300 birds were entered by 80 members.
“It’s been steadily going up for years,” Akers said.
The show turned into a great one, he said. The weather cooperated, and thanks to new fans in the poultry barn ceiling, the temperature inside was much more manageable than in years past.
“Hats off to an outstanding job,” said show judge Greg Chamness. “I don’t know if I’ve seen a fair with such quality of birds.”
Grand champions at the show were Max Lane for commercial meat type, Eli Weber for commercial egg type, Michaela Fuesting for exhibition large fowl, Sydney Foster for exhibition Bantam chicken, Tre’ Hurst for exhibition Bantam duck and exhibition duck, Linnea Krasutsky for exhibition goose, and Robert Niehaus for exhibition turkey.
Reserve grand champions were Robert Niehaus for commercial meat type, Maci French for commercial egg type, Levi Scott for exhibition large fowl, Cameron Beck for exhibition Bantam chicken and exhibition duck, Tre’ Hurst for exhibition Bantam duck, Linnea Krasutsky for exhibition goose, and James Barker for exhibition turkey.
