Seventy-three students marched around the Central Elementary gym Friday afternoon with all manner of contraptions strapped to their heads. There was a jungle scenefrom Jumanji, an iceberg covered in penguins from "March of the Penguins," what appeared to be the entire Lebanon school district. The school held its annual Hat Day Parade, with students competing in five categories.

Winners were:Hats off to Books — Lucas Debard and Sarah Van Atter; Uniquely You — Kendall McCallum and Madison Skiles; Central Spirit — K.K. Hoene and Abigayle Krulik; Team Spirit — Emily Keller and Jalan Camarillo; American Spirit — Kelsee Robinson and Kate Stanley; Principal’s Choice Award — Ross Wilson.

Winners and 10participants drawn at random won an invitation to a special Mad Hatter’s pizza lunch Tuesday.

County official suffers injury in trail mishap
Boone County Councilman and Zionsville Community High School Government Teacher David Rodgers is recovering from major injuries after an accident Wednesday on the Rail Trail. Rodgers was apparently riding his bike on the trail during his lunch break.
