Man found dead in cab of semi-truck in city

Lebanon — Lebanon — A man was found dead in the cab of his semi-truck Monday afternoon, after workers had unloaded his flat-bed trailer.

The man’s identity was withheld pending notification of relatives.

He was found about 3 p.m., when a worker at Jerry’s Feed & Salt, 850 S. Indianapolis Avenue, knocked on the cab door, said Lebanon police.

The windows were down but the truck was locked. Indiana State Trooper Troy Sunier, first officer to arrive, unlocked the passenger door, then called for a coroner.

Lebanon Police Sgt. Mark Tibbs said the driver’s death appeared to be due to natural causes.

The truck, owned by Tandem Transport Corp., Michigan City, had been parked at the feed supply store since about 6 p.m. Sunday, police said.

It was unknown how long the man had been dead, although there was some lividity, a pooling of blood in the lower body, which begins six to eight hours after death.

It was the second death investigation in Lebanon since Saturday.

Police said Brent Patterson, Jamestown, was pronounced dead in a mobile home at lot 69, 441 W. Elm St. shortly after a 9-1-1 call reported a person in cardiac arrest.

Two persons were taken into custody for questioning, but were later released, police said.

Results of an autopsy done Sunday were unavailable at press time. Police said the death appeared to be from a drug overdose.
