Benefit, dolls All for Alex

Lebanon — An Indianapolis Colts helmet signed by Coach Tony Dungy is among items to be placed on the auction block during a fundraising event this weekend.

The benefit dinner and auction are being planned to help cover medical expenses and take care of other needs of Lebanon High School sophomore Alex Rose.

The event will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Lebanon Memorial Park. Activities will move to Lebanon Middle School in the event of rain.

The pork dinner will be from 5 to 7 p.m. and tickets will be $7 for adults and $5 for children 6 and younger. A Corn Hole tournament will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Entry fee is $20. Kids’ activities will be held from 5 to 8 p.m.

The auction will begin at 6:30 p.m. In addition to the signed helmet, items up for bid include NASCAR Die Cast Cars, a Saks 5th Avenue make-up bag, an autographed print by Nancy Noel, a Nokia cell phone, a Soundcast iCast transmitter and receiver bundle, a Nikon Coolpix camera, an iHome clock radio and iPod docking station, zoo tickets, restaurant and hotel gift cards and more.

Sixteen-year-old Alex Rose was injured in an ATV accident a little more than a month ago.

His injuries have left him paralyzed from the waist down. Rose remains hospitalized and is undergoing physical therapy. Volunteers have formed a group called All for Alex.

The volunteers are organizing a variety of fundraising events and remodeling a house on the Rose family property to be accessible for Alex when he gets home.

While it is hoped that the events raise a lot of money, Alex’s friends are working to help raise his spirits too.

Pamela Bradley has started a “Where's Alex” campaign with two Alex Rose dolls.

The dolls have been visiting businesses and friends and showing up in photos that are being placed in a travel journal to keep Alex up on what’s been going on while he is working on his rehabilitation.
