The Boone County Republican party took action to fill two vacant seats this weekend.
Linda Goodnight of Jamestown was chosen to replace David Rodgers on the Jackson Township Board, during a caucus of the three Jackson Township Precinct Committeemen Saturday in Jamestown. Goodnight is a long-time Jamestown resident and has been the precinct committeeman in Jackson II for several years.
The party has also set a date for a caucus to fill a vacant seat on the Zionsville Town Council.
Fourteen Eagle Township Precinct Committeemen will meet at 9 a.m. Jan. 31 to select a replacement for David Carr on the Zionsville Town Council. The caucus will be held in the Zionsville Town Hall.
David Rodgers was elected to the Boone County Council and was recently sworn into that position.
The Zionsville Town Council seat came open unexpectedly last week.
Carr was the longest-serving member of the Zionsville Town Council. He announced his resignation at the end of the Jan. 5 meeting. He had just successfully run for re-election last year. He was an opponent of the final form of the government reorganization plan and cited the legislation as one reason he could no longer remain on the town council.
