Boone County Family YMCA announces new summer programs


The Boone County Family YMCA is offering a variety of programs this summer for children and for adults. Programs include:

Tumbling and Cheer Camp

The week-long cheer camp is being instructed by Lebanon high school cheer leaders. Under the supervision of Trina Wright, participants of all ages will learn back bends, cartwheels, round-offs, rolls, bridges from a stand, kick-overs, back walk-overs and more. Participants will practice proper motion and jump techniques as well as intermediate stunting and tumbling skills.

Dates: June 29 — July 3.

Ages: Open to all ages.

Time: Noon to 2 p.m.

Cost: Member $110, non-member $125.

Raising Healthy Eaters

The five-day course is designed for parents or caregivers of children ages 2-5, who want to promote happy, healthy children, and enjoyable mealtimes. Topics will include introducing new foods to children, dealing with choosy eaters, preparing quick and easy meals, and more.

Dates: July 6 — 10.

Times: 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.

Cost: Member $20, non-member $30.

Adult Tennis Program

The six-week program for individuals 20 years of age and older is designed to teach the beginning to intermediate player the basics of the game and the skills necessary to play. Participants will learn the fundamentals of the game, and develop a good foundation for play. Each week will focus on a different element of the game such as serve, volley, ground stroke, and will be followed by a half an hour of play. The program will be instructed by Lebanon's Brad Mustin.

Dates: Saturdays, July 11 - Aug. 15.

Times: Noon to 1 p.m.

Cost: $100.
