LHS’ Ottinger wins district 5 honor

Lebanon — Lebanon High School Assistant Principal Kari Ottinger has been honored as the secondary assistant principal of the year for Indiana’s district five by the Indiana Association of School Principals.

Ottinger said just to be nominated is a big enough honor since nominations are made by colleagues. She won the award after being elected by her peers.

“Just to be nominated was a huge honor,” she said Tuesday. “We don’t get into this business to get recognition, so I’m very honored. But I’m just doing my job.”

This is another great recognition for Lebanon, Ottinger said. Last month, Lebanon schools’ Superintendent Dr. Robert Taylor was named the superintendent of the year for district five by the Indiana Association of Public School Superintendents. District five includes Boone, Hamilton, Howard, Madison, Miami and Tipton counties.

“I think we have a phenomenal school system, top to bottom,” Ottinger said. “The community is so supportive. This is like my dream job.”

Ottinger is in her sixth year as LHS assistant principal. She taught business education for two years at Carmel High School and for five years at Pike High School.
