Boone County —
Residents of Royal Run, a subdivision south of former Indiana 334 near Interstate 65, must move their vehicles off the streets when more than two inches of snow falls in a 24-hour period, or face fines and a $200 towing bill.
The Boone County Commissioners Monday approved an ordinance setting snow-emergency parking restrictions in the subdivision, but declined to enact other parking restrictions.
“We need to do this,” Sheriff Ken Campbell said, but he had concerns about timing and notification to Royal Run residents about when the restrictions take effect.
“My office will be the one that gets complaints when the vehicles are towed,” Campbell said. “We have to make sure the criteria are clear: When they get tagged for a $200 tow bill, they are going to be calling me.”
“The 24-hour period doesn’t mean we’re going to be there within the first hour that the snow flies,” Highway Superintendent Rick Carney said.

Big projects nearing completion at LHS
