Home sale numbers encouraging for county
Boone County — The Metropolitan Indianapolis Board of Realtors released its latest housing data for central Indiana Tuesday, and in the three-month period ending July 31, Boone County was one of only four counties to report a positive trend in properties sold; a 4 percent increase from the same period in 2008.
Montgomery County was the only county to have a higher percentage of properties sold over the three-month period, with 5 percent, but the average sale price of a home in Montgomery is $95,679, compared to $222,462 for Boone.
Even more telling, Boone was also the only county to hold steady over the sixth-month period ending July 31. Every other county saw significant decreases in home sales from a year ago, including nearby Hamilton County, which saw a 12 percent decrease, Marion County (15 percent) and Hendricks County (6 percent).
