Salvation Army sets record, still short of goal for 2012

Boone County — While it has broken its all-time fundraising record, the Salvation Army of Boone County remains short of its 2012 “Kettle Campaign” target, with four days before its conclusion.

Through Thursday, the campaign had raised $19,217.01, breaking the old record, set in 2011, by $1,709.

But the organization wants to raise $22,000 this year and is short $2,782.99, said campaign chairman Pastor Richard Burdett.

“We appreciate the work of a record number of bell ringers, as well as the extra effort of the bell captains who have led the way in this endeavor,” Burdett said.

“We will be ringing one more time, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at the south door of Wal-Mart,” Burdett said. The store is at 2440 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon.

“Stop by the kettle and help us in this effort to reach the goal and make sure that the ‘gift goes on’ while Salvation Army of Boone County ‘does the most good’ for those in need in 2013,” he said.

Donors who can’t make it to Wal-Mart may send a tax-deductible check payable to The Salvation Army of Boone County, c/o The Farmers Bank, 2304 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon IN 46052.
