Zionsville — A standoff at the Marathon Village Pantry, 200 S. Ford Road, Zionsville, ended without incident Monday afternoon.
After roughly 20 minutes inside the store and with law enforcement officers from Zionsville, Carmel, Boone County, Hamilton County, Whitestown and Indiana State Excise surrounding the site, two suspects walked out the front door and surrendered, lying on the ground before being cuffed and brought into custody.
The first to surrender was a 17-year-old male, from Indianapolis. His name is not being published because he is a juvenile suspected of a crime.
About five minutes later, Robert M. Sims, 19, of Indianapolis, also surrendered. He was wanted on a warrant in Marion County for burglary.
Sims had a cut on his had, which was bandaged by Zionsville medics before he was taken to the Hamilton County Jail and charged with robbery and theft. Additional charges may be pending. Information about the juvenile’s location and charges against him were not available at press time.
According to Zionsville police Chief Rick Dowden, the brief standoff at the Marathon Village Pantry was the end of a series of events that began at about 1:30 p.m., with an attempted burglary committed at a home in the Brittany Chase subdivision in Zionsville.
