Lebanon — “This is it,” said Congressman Steve Buyer, R-4th, and dropped the 2,000-page federal health care bill on the podium at Ulen Country Club.
The podium shook.
Before sending the two-part bill around to be examined by the Lebanon Kiwanis Club Thursday, Buyer had a harsh assessment of any congressman who claimed to have read the entire bill: “Liar,” Buyer said.
Buyer was one of 215 Congressmen who voted no on the proposal, which is now being reviewed in the U.S. Senate.
Two of his objections are that the bill is too expensive and does not address costs, the most basic issue of health care, Buyer said.
Over 10 years, Buyer said, the “Affordable Health Care for America Act” will cost $2.4 trillion, with Indiana alone facing an $18.1 billion in Medicaid expansion costs.
