Whitestown — Roger Dumkie, 56, was being assisted by breathing equipment, but awake, alert and oriented Wednesday, Whitestown Police Chief Dennis R. Anderson reported.
Dumkie is the man three rescuers pulled from the cab of a pickup truck that left the icy roadway and ended up submerged in Fishback Creek at county roads 500 South and 650 East on Sunday.
When he was pulled from the water Sunday, he was in critical condition.
Wednesday, Chief Anderson said Dumkie was likely under water about 12 minutes — a victim of cold water drowning.
