Witham asks county to back $35M bond issue

Lebanon — Witham Memorial Hospital is asking Boone County to support a $35 million bond issue that could save the hospital millions of dollars in interest.

Witham wants to sell about $35 million in bonds, so it can refinance the cost of its North Pavilion Medical Office Building and buy, for $15 million, the land where it built an emergency room at Anson.

The final amount of the bond issue will depend on the interest rate when the 20-year bonds are sold, Witham CEO Ray Ingham said Tuesday. Bonds could be retired by 2015, County Attorney Bob Clutter said.
