Boone County — Debra “Debby” Scering signs papers to officially become Jackson Township Trustee, after a caucus of Republican party officials Wednesday at the Lebanon Public Library. Scering, who is taking public office for the first time, replaces her husband, Jeffrey, who died Aug. 9 after more than 10 years as township trustee. She said one of the biggest challenges she faces “is not knowing whether there will be township government in a year or two,” because the Indiana General Assembly may consider consolidation of townships with municipal governments.
