Trees in subdivisions clogging drains

Boone County — Tree-shaded streets in at least two rural Zionsville subdivisions may prove costly to homeowners, because the roots of those trees are destroying storm drains that the county agreed to maintain.

“It kind of looks like an alien,” County Attorney Bob Clutter said after looking at a photo provided by Boone County Highway Superintendent Rick Carney of a root clog removed from a Stonegate drain.
