Boone County — Ciera Yoder, 24, Thorntown, was flown to St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis, after she was partially trapped under a 1997 red Grand Am on Indiana 47 west of Thorntown just after 4 p.m. Wednesday. Yoder was a passenger in the car that was being driven by Sydnie Daugherty, 18, of the same Thorntown address. The vehicle was going west approaching a curve in the 11400 block of Ind. 47 when the driver left the north side of the road, over-corrected and rolled the vehicle into a ditch on the south side of the road, according to the accident report. The car hit at least one tree trunk before coming to rest, Sheriff Ken Campbell said at the scene. A wrecker from Ford’s Towing and Recovery, Thorntown, was used to shift the car enough to free the trapped victim. “It was a nice job by Ford’s,” Campbell said. The victims were rescued by the Thorntown/Sugar Creek Fire Department. Thorntown Police Department, Witham Medics and Excise Police assisted at the scene. Yoder was flown to St. Vincent by StatFlight after being taken by firefighters to a landing zone at the fire department on Indiana 75 in Thorntown.
