Agencies prepare for spring storms

By Rod Rose/The Lebanon Reporter

Boone County — Severe Weather Preparedness Week is Sunday through March 20.

The annual event is intended to make the public aware of precautions to be taken when the National Weather Service issues thunderstorm and tornado watches and warnings.

Tests of alert systems will be made between 10:15 a.m. — 10:30 a.m. and 7:30 — 7:45 p.m. EDT Wednesday. The tests will be the same times on March 18, if weather forces a postponement.

Participating in the tests will be local schools, police and fire departments, the Boone County Amateur Radio Club, Boone County Emergency Management Agency, American Red Cross, Indiana State Police and the Indiana Homeland Security.
