Ford Road bridge debate will resume next week

Lebanon — A resolution asking that the Boone County Council reverse its decision and approve money to replace the deteriorating Ford Road bridge over Eagle Creek will be considered for a second time by the Boone County Commissioners Tuesday.

Objections by four members of the Boone County Council to the use of a steel truss bridge that the commissioners had intended to span the stream caused them to block funding for the project. On July 11, the council voted 4-2 to shift $116,000 out of the account from which the bridge project was being paid. No money would be approved until the commissioners, the Zionsville Town Council and the Indiana Department of Transportation reach common agreement on a replacement bridge.
