Norton leaving EDC for state post

Boone County — Dax Norton, who has directed the Boone County Economic Development Corp. for eight years, will leave the agency on Jan. 13 to head the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs.

Lt. Gov.-elect Sue Ellspermann made the announcement in a press release Wednesday afternoon.

As the OCRA director, Norton will be responsible for multiple programs designed to boost economic development in rural Indiana. Those programs include Indiana Main Street: Community Development Block Grants, the Stellar Community award and others.

Norton said his work with the Boone EDC was a factor in his decision to accept the job.
