Cicero — In high school golf the Bear Slide course just outside of Cicero is a bit of a monster.
With rolling hills, fast greens, and plenty of obstacles it makes for a difficult course even for experienced golfers.
At Monday’s Hoosier Crossroads Conference event is produced a tightly packed field with slightly higher than average scores.
Even for one of the state’s best golf conference it was a tough day.
Third ranked Hamilton Southeastern took home the conference title with a team score of 333.
No. 11 Noblesville was second eight strokes back, with 18th ranked Lafayette Jeff third and eighth-ranked Zionsville fourth.
“Conditions are always tough at Bear Slide with these greens. Putting can be… eventful,” said Ziosnville coach Jeff Anderson. “Our girls played well though. We had all of our scores bunched right together and tried to hold our own against some amazing girls golfers in this conference. It is a loaded field for sure.”
Zionsville’s Lucy Stevens took home All-Conference honors for the Eagles with an 83, finishing eight strokes in back of individual medalist Regan Pittard of Lafayette Jeff.
