Dover — It has been a tough end of the season for the Western Boone boys soccer team.
After losing 10-0 to Tri-West Tuesday, the Stars dominated Southmont for most of the game Thursday, only to fall 2-0.
“We said one of the keys to the game was going to be finishing,” Western Boone head coach Mike Schlemmer said. “And we couldn’t get it done tonight.”
Western Boone outshot Southmont 22-7 in the game, but couldn’t get the key shot into the net.
The Stars were all around, and over the net, and even hit the post, but none went in.
Western Boone has scored three goals in the previous five games.
“Sometimes we need to have a sense of urgency when we play,” Schlemmer said. “Sometimes we need to have one more pass. I don’t think you can point to any one particular thing that we are doing, just a lot of little things.”
Southmont struck for two quick goals early in the first half and were content to play defense the rest of the game.
