Lizton —
For a quarter, it looked like Friday’s game between Class 3A No. 10 Lebanon and Tri-West would be another back-and-forth affair.
But after the score was tied at 11 at the end of the first quarter, the Tigers turned it up a notch. Lebanon held the Bruins scoreless in the second quarter and cruised to a 53-37 win.
“I felt like our defensive pressure and team defense was as good as it has been all season,” Lebanon head coach Albert Hendrix said. “We rotated well, pressured the ball, trapped them and made them uncomfortable. Our defense forced them to do things they didn’t want to do.”
Tri-West jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the opening minutes and got Caleb Brannon in foul trouble.
But Lebanon’s Jake Marshall hit a 3-pointer, was fouled, and hit the free-throw to start a 9-0 run for the Tigers.
“That was huge,” Hendrix said. “Jake stepped up and hit a big shot. He hasn’t been in that position a lot this year. As much as we didn’t want Caleb in foul trouble and off the court, we had a lot of guys step up and help out the team.”
