Dover —
For the second time in four years, Western Boone will be in search of a new football coach.
Jed Richman, who has coached the past three seasons for the Stars, accepted the head coaching job at Lawrence Central.
The Lawrence Central school board accepted him Monday night.
“It is an exciting time, but really bittersweet,” Richman said in a phone interview Monday night. “Anytime there are kids and other people involved it is really hard. It was a business decision, but there were a lot of emotions at stake so it was a delicate situation. But it was a great opportunity for me and I am excited about it. But it is really tough to leave the kids and people at WeBo.”
Richman will be re-uniting with Jeff Irwin, the former Western Boone AD who took the job at Lawrence Central this summer. Irwin originally hired Richman prior to the 2010 football season.
Lawrence Central is coming off a 5A state championship this fall, and will be one of the favorites in the newly formed 6A this season.
