Linden — The Western Boone boys cross country team took first place at the North Montgomery Relay Invitational Thursday night.
The Invite was split into 5k, 4k and 3k races with scores counting in all three races.
“I am very proud of the way the guys ran tonight,” Western Boone head coach Dustin Harrison said. “They work extremely hard every day, and it’s nice to see if pay off. We will enjoy it tonight, but I don’t want them to be satisfied. We want to continue to improve throughout the season.”
Drew Olsen and Douglas Mathis placed second and third respectively in the 5k race to earn points for Western Boone.
Steven Parker and Austen Windle scored points for the Stars in the 3k race, and J.T. Whitaker scored in the 4k race.
The Lebanon boys’ team placed fourth overall.
Tanner Maksymicz paced the Tigers by winning the 5k with a personal best of 18:14.
