Dover —
Western Boone senior L.V. Bowden appeared to be on a mission Friday night against Clinton Prairie on senior night.
Western Boone clobbered Clinton Prairie 69-51 in a game that was not even that close.
Bowden finished with a career high 25 points and five rebounds, while fellow senior C.J. McMann add 11 points and 10 assists.
“I’m pretty proud of L.V.,” McMann said. “He got his career high tonight. I’m just proud of my boy.”
Coach Scott McClelland said he was proud of the way the team played as a unit.
“I thought we had an overall good team effort,” McClelland said. “We had a lot of balance. We were able to get some easy baskets. I was also really proud of the way the guys crashed the offensive glass.”
The Stars started the game on a 12-3 run after a pass from McMann to Riggs Baxter for an easy layup with 3:13 left in the first quarter.
The Stars extended their lead to 11 with 1:59 left in the quarter after another McMann bucket.
But, the Gophers pulled the score to 19-11 to end the first quarter.
In the second quarter, the Gophers pulled to within six points at 25-19 with 5:10 remaining in the half.
But, that was as close as the Gophers would come.
