Greyhounds blank Tigers 3-0

Lebanon — The Lebanon boys soccer team gave it everything they had Wednesday in the sectional opener against No.1 Carmel.

But in the end the Greyhounds were able to come away with a 3-0 victory.

“It was kind of the same thing we have done in year’s past,” Lebanon head coach Ryan Tucker said. “We were good for 25-30 minutes, we do our job keeping the score 0-0 then it only takes a little bit when there is a crack the whole thing falls apart. I can’t say enough about our guys, for as young of a team as we had we believed in ourselves. This was a fun team to coach and I am really proud of them. I expect big things from them in the future.

The two teams played scoreless for the first 23 minutes thanks to strong goalkeeping by Jake Dulhanty, who had four saves in the early going.

Carmel broke through with 16:58 to play in be opening half when Evan Morris broke through the Tiger defense.

Just six minutes later Janum Sailor made a perfect cross to Trevor Sarsfield for the second goal.

Tucker was pleased with the defense throughout.

“Obviously Jake being a great goalkeeper helps, but the 10 guys in front of him are playing together,” Tucker said. “They are shifting across the field, trying to deny space, the communication was good; I just think we got a little tired and with one mistake good teams capitalize.”
