Lebanon — The Lebanon Tigers boys tennis team wasted no time in defeating conference and county rival Western Boone 5-0 Thursday night.
The Tigers were able to finish off the inexperienced Stars in a little more than an hour.
“In all fairness, Western Boone they need a little bit of help, they have a really young team,” Lebanon head coach Roy Flanary said. “That kind of showed today. And although we are a little bit inexperienced, overall our level of play was just a little higher today. We took care of the matches, I think my guys behaved themselves properly. And took care of business.
In three of the five matches, Western Boone didn’t manage to take a game in the first set.
At No. 1 singles Jacob DeBard was able to take two games off Jake Dickerson, but no Star took off more than that in any set all afternoon.
“Just coming in watching our guys, we looked flat,” Western Boone head coach Dustin Cunningham said. “As the match went on I think the guys started to pick it up and competing. The points won’t show it and the games won’t show it, but hopefully that brings us a little confidence if we draw these guys in sectionals.”
