Cathedral ekes by Lebanon 32-28

Lebanon — The Lebanon wrestling team hung with one of the state’s traditional powers as long as they could Tuesday night.

But in the end, Indianapolis Cathedral was just a little better and topped Lebanon 32-28 in a dual meet that came down to the final match.

“Overall I thought we competed very well,” Lebanon head coach Derek Bocock said. “It was a very exciting night. We are very encouraged by where we are at right now heading into the sectionals.”

It was the final match of the regular season for Lebanon.

The Tigers took a 28-17 lead after the match at 145 pounds when Collin Campbell defeated Brant Larson 9-5.

Just three matches remained and Lebanon would need just one of them to win the match.

At 152, Cathedral’s third-ranked Vinny Corsaro pinned Ethan Bowen with 58 seconds left in the first period to make the score 28-23.

At 160, Cathedral got another pin, when Max Tigges pinned Tyler Kinzer with 1:16 left in the second period to give the Fighting Irish the 29-28 lead.
