The Zionsville girls swimming and diving team advanced nine events to today’s state swimming and diving finals.
Alex Cleveland led the Eagles by qualifying in four events.
In the 50-yard freestyle, Cleveland was the top qualifier, finishing in 22.95 seconds.
In her other individual event, the 100-yard backstroke, she qualified fourth in a time of 53.83.
She was part of two relays, the 200-yard medley relay team with Amanda Short, Taite Kitchel and Grace Einterz, that qualified third in 1:45.29.
In the 200-yard freestyle relay, Cleveland, Kyle Mihok, Anna Savery and Einterz qualified third in 1:36.42.
In the 200-yard IM, Kitchel qualified third in a time of 2:02.04.
She also qualified in the 100-yard butterfly, placing eighth in 56.25.
Einterz qualified sixth in the 100-yard freestyle, finishing in 56.25.
The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Kitchel, Mihok, Einterz and Savery also qualified in the sixth position — finishing in a time of 3:31.69.
That time was just two seconds out of the second place.
Short qualified for the consolation final in the 100-yard breaststroke, finishing in 1:05.59, .04 seconds out of the championship final.
Also competing for Zionsville but not qualifying for the consolation or championship finals: Mihok placed 23rd in the 200-yard freestyle (in a time of 1:56.44), Short placed 23rd in the 200-yard IM (in a time of 2:09.65) and Savery placed 19th in the 500-yard freestyle (in a time of 5:11.36)
Western Boone’s Madison Riegel placed 32nd in the 200-yard freestyle, finishing with a time of 2:04.68.
The the consolation and championship finals start at 1 p.m. today at the IUPUI Natatorium in Indianapolis.
