Noblesville — Zionsville is right where its wants to be heading into its match-up with nemesis Hamilton Southeastern: 3-0 and atop the Hoosier Crossroads Conference.
Like The Eagles’ first two games, Friday’s 21-7 victory over Noblesville was a model of defensive excellence and offensive efficiency. Running back Kyle Hatton had 125 yards from scrimmage and a pair of touchdowns in the victory.
“We’re definitely looking forward to that,” said coach Larry McWhorter of the trip to Lucas Oil Stadium to face the Royals next Saturday. “We made some uncharacteristic mistakes tonight, especially on the first drive, but we recovered from that.”
Defensively the Eagles only had trouble on the Millers’ opening drive of the game. Noblesville went 72 yards in seven plays after forcing the Eagles into a turnover on downs. Jaylan Duncan caught a slant pattern from Jakes Bates and bulled into the end zone from 10 yards out to make it 7-0 Noblesville midway through the first quarter.
