Donald E. Smith Jr., 41, of Lafayette, died unexpectedly on Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012, at his residence.
He was born Oct. 6, 1970, in Lafayette, to Linda Smart Smith-Craven of Lebanon and Donald E. Smith Sr. (wife, Annette) of Covington.
Donald had worked the last eight years in the heat treat department at Fairfield.
He loved spending time in the outdoors and being with his best friend Charlie, his yellow lab. He also was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.
Surviving, along with his parents, are four sisters, Kelly (Oliver) Black of Farmington, Conn., Stephanie (significant other, Dan Bloem) Smith of Monticello, Jennifer (Brian) LaDuke of Attica and Honey Stultz of Covington; a brother, Steven (Tammy) Smith of Williamsport; and two uncles, four aunts, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a infant sister, Theresa.
Visitation will be noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12, at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd., Lafayette. The service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel, with Michael Livengood officiating. Burial will follow at Baker Cemetery.
