William Owen Belcher


Mr. William Owen Belcher, 51, of Zionsville, died Tuesday, July 1, 2009, at St. Vincent Hospice in Indianapolis.

Mr. Belcher was born July 30, 1957, in Lebanon. He was the son of the late Emory Owen and Mable Marie (Moore) Belcher.

A lifelong resident of Boone County, he graduated from Lebanon High School in 1975.

He married Donna Marie (Cochran) Belcher on June 4, 1977, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Whitestown. Mrs. Belcher survives.

Throughout his life, Mr. Belcher worked at Esterline Angus in Indianapolis, at Gene Lewis Ford in Lebanon as a mechanic and at Mineweld in Indianapolis as a dock worker and supervisor. He then started his own company, Belcher Trucking, Inc., of Zionsville, and did contract work for Forward Air Freight of Indianapolis.

Mr. Belcher was a devoted husband and father who was interested in his family. He enjoyed his friends, fishing, golfing and motorcycles.

He was a member of Whitestown United Methodist Church in Whitestown, Indy Powers Sports Chapter of Victory Motorcycle Club and the Patriot Guard.

Survivors include his wife, who resides in Zionsville; two daughters, Dawn Belcher and Mandy Belcher, both of Zionsville; three sisters, Susan L. Hancock and husband, John, and Brenda K. Marlow and husband, William, all of Whitestown, and Pamela J. Scott of Lebanon; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by brother-in-law, Ovid R. Scott.

Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Myers Chapel of Memories, with the Rev. Greg Higbee officiating. Interment will follow at Lincoln Memory Gardens in Boone County.
