Ronald Wesley “Ron” “Loophole” Burgess

Mr. Ronald Wesley “Ron” “Loophole” Burgess, 57, of Indianapolis, died Thursday, July 2, 2009, at Indiana University Hospital in Indianapolis.

Ronald W. Burgess was born June 8, 1952, in Lebanon. He was the son of Lowell Wesley and Alice Ruth (Johnson) Burgess, both deceased. His father was the seventh generation that farmed north of Lebanon on Elizaville Road. The land was a government grant to John Crawford, great-great-great-grandfather of Ronald.

Ronald graduated from Lebanon High School in 1970, and attended Indiana University at Bloomington.

He married Linda C. “Wende” (Bruce) Burgess on March 3, 2000, in Lawrence. Mrs. Burgess survives.

He spent most of his career in marketing and sales and worked for companies in Indianapolis, including BMG where he worked for 14 years, and RDI.

He was fondly known by his friends as “Ron” and “Loophole.” He enjoyed activities with his friends, including dart and softball leagues, playing cards, and he was in a “Fantasy Football” competition with a group of friends for fourteen years.

Survivors include his wife, who resides in Indianapolis; one daughter, Amie L. Burgess of Cincinnati, Ohio; one son, Erik Lowell Burgess of Lebanon; grandson, Mason W. McNary of Cincinnati; and aunts, Rosemary Martin and Jean Swisher, both of Lebanon.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Lorraine L. Kaylor.

Memorial services are to be held at 11 a.m. Sunday at Myers Chapel of Memories, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon, with the Rev. Raymond Duff officiating. Visitation will be held following the service at Myers Mortuary until 1 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family of Mr. Burgess requests that memorial contributions be made to the Indiana University School of Medicine Section of Transplant Surgery, to support transplant surgery research. Please make memorial gifts payable to “IU Foundation-Transplant Surgery” and mail to Indiana School of Medicine, c/o IU Foundation, P.O. Box 660245, Indianapolis, IN 46266-0245.
